Diane Rayor - 1980
Diane is a professor of Classics in the Classics Department that she helped start at in Allendale, MI. She has published translations of ancient Greek poetry, including "Sappho's Lyre" (1991) and "The Homeric Hymns" (2004) with the University of California Press. Cambridge University Press published her translations of Sophocles' Antigone (2011) and Euripides' Medea (2013), designed for the classroom and the stage. Also with Cambridge U.P. is a new translation of Sappho's poetry (2014), which was reviewed in the New Yorker (March 16, 2015). Diane was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ on September 6, 2010. Her husband, David Hast (CC '79), is an English teacher at Jenison High School. Their son, Daniel, is working on a Ph.D. in math at the University of Wisconsin.
