The Feminist and Gender Studies Department is delighted to share that Lucia Daranyi ’24 (FGS Major and Environmental Studies Minor) was recently hired as the new Assistant Director at Apogee Adventures in Brunswick, Maine. offers summer outdoor adventure travel to teens and young adults throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Latin America. Their programs are “designed to send students home with a feeling of accomplishment, a sense of belonging, and a confidence in themselves that carries over into all aspects of life. Just as important, we want our students to have fun, form lasting friendships, to give back to the communities they visit, and to gain a greater appreciation for the outdoors.”

As Assistant Director, Lucia will be helping to manage summer backpacking and biking trips that range from a week to four weeks long. Along with this, she will be working on hiring summer staff and promoting trips to prospective families. For Lucia, this new position is both a beginning and a return.  Indeed, Lucia guided for Apogee Adventures throughout her summers at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, and before that was a camper on their trips.  She is therefore “beyond excited to be rejoining the team at Apogee, and to see what this job holds.”  As always, Lucia remains ever so grateful for all of the support that the FGS community has given her along this journey!
